The Chablé Resort & Spa, located in Chocholá, Yucatan, was recognized this month with the Prix Versailles 2017 Prize, awarded by the International Union of Architects and UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).
The luxurious hotel, designed by Jorge Borja and Paulina Morán, was awarded for its interior and exterior design.
It has 38 suites - one master and one presidential - that are hidden in the jungle. The whole, built on land of a henequera hacienda, is inspired by the Mayan culture.
The jury for the World Prize was made up of prominent personalities from the world of architecture and culture, including the philosopher Gilles Lipovestky and two Prize winners, Toyō Itō and Wang Shu.
